Sepsis Canada Welcomes New Managing Director
Dr. Saad Salim Brings a Wealth of Experience
Sepsis Canada is pleased to announce that Dr. Saad Y. Salim has accepted the role of Managing Director effective June 13th, 2022.
Dr. Salim graduated from McMaster University with a H.BSc and a Masters in Health Sciences. After completing a PhD in Sweden, he did a CIHR and Alberta Innovates Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Alberta. Thereafter, he worked as a Clinical Research Assistant, managing 3 multi-site clinical projects. For the past 5 years, he has worked within the Vice-President Research and Innovation Office, initially as a Research Facilitator and then as the Director of the Grant Assist Program, providing strategic guidance on investigator-led and large multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional funding initiatives.
When asked what enticed Dr. Salim to the Managing Director position with our network, he had this to say: "I wanted to join the Sepsis Canada Network because of the opportunities to exercise my scientific curiosity as well as apply my expertise in university administration and grant supports. In addition to contributing to the financial management and strategic planning of the network, I am excited to work with a multidisciplinary team all with a with a singular goal of detecting sepsis early, saving lives, and supporting recovery."
